Prayer Foundations

The Lord Jesus taught me how to pray when I 1st was Born-Again, saved/delivered from a terrible life of sin.  Prayer is an awesome privilege and if done correctly – quite powerful.  Prayer is a life-changer!

These are some truths about prayer that all Born-again Blood-washed Believers should follow:

• Truly mean business with God every time you approach Him in prayer … prayer is serious people!
• You can actually pray in any position, but I like to pray the majority of time the way David laid it out in the Bible. (Psalm 55:17, Psalm 95:6)
• Ask Jesus to wash you in His blood as you approach the Throne of Grace to obtain mercy, to make sure there isn’t anything between you & God or your fellow man.  If there is, get it right first. (Romans 5:9, Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 1:7)
• Be real with Jesus, because He knows everything about you already.  He knows what we need before we ask Him. (Matthew 6: 24-34)
• Don’t try to hide things from God … He knows all. (Hebrews 4: 12-13)
• Don’t try to impress God or others with big words.  Don’t think that your title or your great position in life will get you closer to God or gain extra favor from Him … God doesn’t care about that!  (Romans 2: 1-11)
• God loves humility.  It takes a humble person to approach God in sincerity.  Humility will get God’s attention. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
• Pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. (John 14: 12-15, John 16: 22-23)
• Pray in secret and God will reward you openly. (Matthew 6: 5-13)
• Ask Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Ghost.  You need to be filled with the Spirit of God. (Matthew 3:11) … You need the Holy Ghost!  You need God living in you through Jesus, to be enabled to live a victorious Christian life in this world.
• Ask Jesus for the Spirit of Prayer, so prayer won’t be hard or a drudgery.  (Roman 8: 26-27)

Prayer is an art I’d say, and it takes hours daily in the presence of God to cultivate it.  Want to be like Jesus, then Pray Pray Pray!

**Note: If you’ve never spoken in other tongues or languages of men and angels, please don’t knock it until God’s blessed you to try it!  It’s a wonderful thing – quite exciting!
