Brief History of Guinea
Officially the Republic of Guinea, it is a country on the western coast of Africa. Formerly known as French Guinea, today it is referred to by some as Guinea-Conakry in order to distinguish it from other countries with “Guinea” in the name. Officially, within the government and the United Nations it is officially Guinea. Guinea has a population of over 12 million people. Guinea is a predominantly Islamic country, with Muslims representing 85 percent of the population. Conakry is the capital and largest city of Guinea, with an estimated population of 2 million people. Guinea is a predominantly Islamic country, with Muslims representing 85 percent of the population. The country was at the epicenter of the 2014 Ebola outbreak.
CIYWR in Guinea
Guinea is one of CIYWR’s five main countries of outreach in west Africa. As with our other Revival outreaches, we purposely work with local pastors and religious leaders well in advance of our Crusades, during the Revivals, and afterwards. We have found this partnership to be the most effective in winning souls for Christ and making solid disciples of the new converts. Because of its proximity to other work we do in west Africa, we try to be very strategic with our efforts and our resources (both financially and with our time).
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
Acts 2: 38,39
CIYWR’s service work in Guinea includes Hospital Visits, and local Church Growth and Outreach.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
James 2: 20,24
